As the Leica is a rangefinder camera, it is 'thinner' than an SLR camera as it has no mirror box. This means that it is possible to use most SLR lenses on the body to focus to infinity with an adaptor. The rangefinder is inoperative, and focussing has to be by estimating the distance and setting the focus scale manually. Depending on the application, telephoto lenses may be inadvisable owing to the difficulty in sighting.
Some lenses from the later film cameras, and most digital cameras do not have aperture rings to enable the diaphragm to be set manually. These would have to be used at full aperture. Specifically, these are CANON EOS, MINOLTA/SONY AF, and some NIKON lenses. Please contact us if you are unsure, or require a special to be made.
These adaptors are also compatible with the Zorki rangefinder cameras
